Henrico Federal Credit Union has established a VISA credit card that gives cash back to Henrico County PTA/PTSA/PTO’s. The Community Rewards Visa (CRV) donates up to one percent of members’ purchases to the Henrico PTA/PTSA/PTO of the cardholder’s choice. The CRV was first introduced in the fall of 2003. Henrico FCU has been rewarded over $20,000 to Henrico County PTA/PTSA/PTO’s since then.
After one full year of cardholder activity, checks are distributed to all Henrico County PTA/PTSA/PTO’s designated on at least one CRV application. Hermitage High School raised the $599.57 this year and recognized as the school that raised the most money for their PTA/PTSA/PTO’s. CEO, Chris Williams presented Hermitage High School PTSA president, Scott Cowdery, with their reward at the Regional Championship game on November 18.
Several school parent teacher groups also received sizable returns ranging between $100 and $400. Wilder Middle School PTSA received $396.30. Twin Hickory Elementary School PTA received $336.38. Echo Lake Elementary School PTA received $221.88.
“When this VISA is used for everyday purchases it can really add up to be a major contribution for Henrico County PTSAs,” said Chris Williams, Henrico FCU’s CEO.
The accrual period for CRV donations runs from September to September. “Our hope is that as popularity of the card continues to grow, we can dramatically increase the payout to area schools in years to come.”
