ACCOUNTING MANAGER (Full-Time)

We are currently seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee and manage the accounting functions of the credit union, including (but not limited to) accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgets, cash flow, cost management, financial analysis, financial reporting and recordkeeping, and general ledger reconciliation.
Under the general supervision of the VP of Finance, the Accounting Manager is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the accounting department and staff. Develops, manages and maintains reliable accounting information and reporting on income, expense, assets, liabilities, and capital for management planning / decision making and for the fulfillment of financial reporting requirements. Manages all ACH related items, reconciles general ledger and bank accounts, posts and understands daily general ledger entries. Independently identifies, researches and resolves accounting discrepancies. Ensures that reports, accounts, systems, policies and practices adhere to GAAP and NCUA rules and regulations.
A four-year college degree in accounting, finance or a related field and a minimum of two years of general accounting experience is required. A minimum of one year experience in management or a supervisory capacity is preferred. A minimum of one year of previous banking and/or credit union experience is desirable. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
The successful candidate should possess considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of financial institution accounting, specifically the accounting treatments for credit unions as prescribed by the NCUA and GAAP. Overall knowledge of credit union programs, policies and procedures is preferred. Strong leadership skills. A good attitude and professional, courteous personality conducive to dealing with staff and members. Excellent listening, oral and written communication skills. Accurate, detailed and a self-starter who can exercise independent judgment when addressing problems. Excellent organization skills. Good reasoning ability and problem-solving skills. Ability to calculate figures and apply concepts of basic business math. Proficiency with PC accounting and strong Microsoft Excel skills experience.
