We are currently seeking a Teller Service Representative for our West Broad location to provide exceptional service by processing members' financial transactions with accuracy and offering solutions to meet their financial needs. Positive and flexible attitude, enthusiasm for multi-tasking, and strong verbal skills are required.
The successful candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and enjoy communicating with people. Relationship building skills are a plus. We are committed to educating members and potential members about smart fiscal management. As an active community member, HFCU fully supports Henrico County Public Schools’ (HCPS) commitment to financial literacy and education for all students. Beginning in 2004, we have played an active role in developing financial education in the community. This commitment includes the operation of three student-run high school branches – the Wildcat Branch in Deep Run High School, the Warrior Branch in Henrico High School and the Panther Branch in Hermitage High School.
The student-run branch program is a result of a collaborative effort between HFCU and HCPS. It has three unique goals:
1. To provide real-world working experiences for high school students. From managing and planning to execution, students can get a taste of the “real world” and the professionalism required to live there.
2. To provide students a real-world financial experience with real money and real accounts so they can better manage their financial lives as adults.
3. To provide HCPS with unique, lesson-specific financial education opportunities.
We are currently seeking a Financial Education Manager to lead our student-run branch and financial education program. This is a full-time, salaried exempt position.
The successful candidate must possess the ability to develop harmonious working relationships with members, school administrators, teachers, students and young adults, along with considerable knowledge of basic financial products/services and have a demonstrated ability to manage them in an appropriate manner. An excellent, well-developed skill in public speaking and written communication; ability to articulate clearly and with confidence; and considerable skill in dealing tactfully and courteously with the public is required. Someone who is accurate, detailed and a self-starter with the ability to exercise good reasoning and independent judgment when addressing problems. Familiarity with accounting and financial administration, laws governing the operations of a federal credit union and PCs running Windows applications is also required.
Other required knowledge, skills and abilities include: • Strong leadership skills; • Excellent organization and time management skills; • Outstanding, positive and flexible attitude; • Ability to handle fast-paced, multi-tasking environment; • Detailed-oriented, dependable, honest, ethical and confidential in nature; • Service oriented – actively looks for ways to help people, meeting quality standards of service and satisfaction, as well as a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges; and • A good working knowledge of all facets of credit union operations, including familiarity with principles and practices for the effective operations of a branch and a comprehensive knowledge of credit union products and services, policies and procedures, rules and regulations, credit union security procedures and accounting / financial administration.
A high school diploma or equivalent (four-year college degree in accounting, finance or a related field preferred) and a minimum of one year of business communication (such as public speaking) and/or project management experience plus two years of management experience is required. Experience in financial education, financial counseling and/or organizational development is preferred. Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) certification is a plus. Previous banking and/or credit union experience is desirable. Sales experience in a financial services environment (or a similar retail services environment) is also desirable. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
